SSL still doesn't work. If you dont want to go through the hassle of a paid cert provider and manual cert renewal i can highly recommend Certbot.
https://certbot.eff.org
Certbot is made by the EFF and aims to make deploying SSL and cert renewal automated and easy and it even provides a step-by-step walk-through of how to install it on most unix systems.

I think they've made clear they're not interested in fully deploying SSL a few posts above. True, it's not the hassle it was a year ago, but without proper interest it's not going to happen.

Re: What isn't working?

Please do not make assumptions, as stated previously, it's not that we don't want to support SSL, it was out of our control. I did not want to 100% commit to forced SSL (which is what we would have to do because of limitations of the forum software, also previously mentioned) because I didn't know if the deployed SSL would be maintained, as we didn't even deploy it on purpose, it came abruptly with an update from software on the hosting provider's end.

I've just recently spoken to a staff member at the hosting provider end and they've renewed the SSL certificate and have told me it will be properly maintained from now on, so we are planning on moving to full SSL across the site, if everything goes smoothly.

We will still have to test and discuss various things, so this isn't a guarantee, and it might not be immediate, but I am planning on doing it.
